Evening MetalHeads...
...time TO CRANK IT UP!!
Hello again Baron, I hope you are well and have had a good day today.
7 bells is getting closer and so is the weekend Sir.
Evening all, I hope you are fine and have had a good day today.
We'll be starting at 7pm sharp on Thursday with a cranking anthem from these guys:
See you then!
Quick story behind the special Focus On/NWOBHMayhem Crossover.
Many decades ago, I stumbled upon an album in the For Sale section of a sadly now long gone record shop. The album was Race the Night by a band I had never heard of, Surface, but as it was cheap I decided to take a punt (I still take punts even now, but back then, I did it all the time!).
When I put it on the turndeck once home, it simply blew me away. A high-octane live POMP Metal album, I could not get over how simply awesome it was. So I waited for new releases... and none came. And then I waited for it to be released on CD once CDs came onto the market. And none came. And I slowly forgot all about the album.
Until a couple of years ago, when I was taking my vinyl at random and looking for CD versions for the station. The Surface album was one of them, and, lo and behold, finally the album was out on CD, though the band were rebranded to 'Beneath The Surface'. What was even better was that apart from the original live album, the label had added the studio demos and an original EP from the past as well.
In short, this is a brilliant slice of history that stands supreme as an early British POMP Metal release.
The band should have been huge. Let's see if you agree when I play a selection from it.
