and bringing Jeff Wayne's War of the Worlds (and the BRS to an end)...
Thank you for your company tonight, I hope you have enjoyed our foray into rock-scifi! I am now heading back to the TWS Room to continue our Star Wars vs War of the Worlds show, with the full radio dramatisation of The Return of the Jedi and then at 1230am Orson Welle's 1938 dramatisation of War of the Worlds. NN for now folks!
Graeme another box set for you- the set comes complete with a couple of TV movies from the 70s with a time travel heme, PLUS a pilot for a remake of Time Tunnel that never got off the ground, but which looked bloody awesome!!!
In answer to your question seriously though Graeme, there are two reasons. The first is, as everything by 50s was atomic powered in the near future (OR would be as they thought), then the studio believed that a race more advanced than us would be able to harness forces even more powerful... hence metal legs wouldn't be deemed proper lol.
BUT I also hear that when Pal wanted to try tripods, the cost was too high for the model makers...
Oh that sounded sore :o

Troo dat...
And why was it moved to America????
So why, when the book and all other adaptations I've heard/read refer to tripods, did the 1950s movie have hovering craft?
Fab pic Gary!!!
Since I've still to figure out the profile dimensions ;)
