A Doc's Blues-Rock Show Special Event ********************************************** What do you recall about 1966? The year that England won the world cup of course, but it was also the year that Blues-Rock and the guitar hero were born!! It was the year that Eric Clapton recorded the landmark 'Beano' album with John Mayall's Bluesbreakers. The year that Jimmy Page and Jeff Beck were smashing guitars or using violin bows in The Yardbirds. It was also the year that Peter Green arrived on the scene and a certain Mr J. Hendrix hit the London Blues Club circuit. A year in which a new generation of guitar giants transformed the American deep blues into a new strand of rock music - and it was called Blues-Rock.
Join me for nearly 4 hours of the above guitar gods, plus a healthy dose of other music from 1966 such as The Yardbirds, Steampacket, The Animals, The Rolling Stones, John Mayall, The Paramounts The Spencer Davis Group, Cream, Chris Farlowe and many more. Also we will have tracks from Joe Bonamassa's latest live album British Blues Explosion - a fantastic tribute to those heady times!
