Miles Davis’s only feature-film role was in Dingo in 1992 ; he played a jazz trumpeter, Billy Cross, who takes an aspiring musician under his wing after the two meet in Australia.
Miles Davis guested on the hot-cop show Miami Vice as a bordello owner. “Playing a pimp was easy,” he recalled, “because there’s a little of that in every man.”
Great concept with the mixed time signatures a la Prog Rock - when Prog Rock was still finding its feet TBH. Family, Tull, Yes and Gentle Giant on their earliest albums in 1970.
Great mixing of this album - drums, bass and keyboards going on but the lead instrument, the trumpet, always to the fore. I just get drawn in by the magic sound and the genius compositions.
Agreed - what the cool Blues and Jazz does for me. Chilled out with a glass of French Red, some smokes, shoes kicked off and the lava lamp on - can't beat it!
I am so looking forward to this... I need some cool tunes, a couple glasses of rum and some smokes to help me unwind... perfect! See you at 8pm as we open with The Meaning of the Blues :)

This really is what being a DJ is about.
Bye Bye Blackbird is of course from Round About Midnight.
Albums released under his name while he was alive: 42 Albums released under his name since his death: 63 (and counting)
and an alternate cover to Miles Ahead
Or another quote from him " Jazz is an Uncle Tom word. They should stop using that word … just [call it] music, man.”
They say music can calm the savage beast, I have to say, tonight's show is just what the doctor ordered :)
Miles was once quoted as saying " I don’t keep any of my records. I can’t stand to hear them after I’ve made them.”
How cool is this guy!
