The Return of the Son of The Bride of The Mad Tech Man...

So anyway...

Where are we at?

Well, WIX have thankfully been relatively stable on the unwanted new features (with free bugs) front. All they are doing now is charging extra for the new features that we didn't ask for and don't want. Over a £100 a year increase at that. Our webcosts have now trebled within 5 years, with LESS of the applets (newsletter, remember that?) remaining as free add-ons. Sadly, we've looked at other platforms, and they are even more expensive for less AND seem to have an even worse support rep.

So we're stuck with the devil we know on that front.

However, in brighter news on the tech side. The new Ubuntu MIXXX is superb. So finally we are phasing Windows and its constant unnecessary updates (all of which these days seem to be about pushing EDGE, MS News & Interests, Win 11 upgrade help (as 90% of computers in use won't run W11) and so on) OUT!

We already have a couple of MACS in use, Studio B has been successfully converted to 100% Ubuntu (did you catch our 2 minute silence on Monday? All done on that computer.) and next week, Studio A will follow suit.

So for once, with an end-game in sight, the Mad Tech-Man Monster is feeling a little more chill.

Let's just hope MIXXX don't do a buggy update on Ubuntu!

Well, I am pleased to announce that the migration of the Studio A server to Ubuntu is also going swimingly. Had a little problem convincing Windows to allow me to change the boot options so I could install Ubuntu over it (it's almost as if they are making it as hard as possible to replace Windows with Linux lol), but I cracked the code, and Windows is no more!!

And a successful FIRST time test of Ubuntu Mixxx live on the airwaves was also conducted. I am currently reinstalling all the music, and, having an extra 30GB of disk space to play with now, I can add even more awesome rock tunes as standard.

All in all, we now have…
