To me, one of the best aspects of Sherlock Holmes is that he uses his intellect and scientific knowledge to debunk what otherwise appears to be supernatural e.g. The Hound of Baskervilles. That really can't be done in this situation, with Dracula being one of the greatest supernatural literary characters ever created. I understood that going in, but it ended up bothering me more than I expected, as have the recent Sherlock movies where he is more of an action hero (the recent BBC "modern" Sherlock Holmes series is excellent, however). Nevertheless, the author does a nice job with what I consider a flawed premise. It would have been a little better if the Dracula character could have been flushed out more, as it was hard to understand why he was doing certain things. The Dr. Watson character felt forced at times. I have read other books by this very prolific author and liked them better, so will delve more fully into his other work.
Despite that fact that I love Sherlock and I'm a professional in literature, I need a person who can write my dissertation abstract.
